Some of the documents that require a sworn translation are: birth and death certificates, marriage certificates, univeristy transcripts and diplomas, powers of attorney, notarial records, contracts, court judgements, etc.
Only sworn translators are legally entitled to translate official documents. In the Netherlands, sworn translators are required to take an oath in one of the district courts. After taking the oath, their signature is registered with the court in which the oath was taken.
Additionally, sworn translators must be registered with the Dutch registry of sworn interpreters and translators (RBTV).
