Certified OR SWORN TRANSLATIONS
P.F. Sworn translations specialises in certified translations. What does this mean?
If you need to submit the translation of your document before an official body abroad, you will most likely need a certified translation, also known as ‘sworn translation’.
A certified translation contains the signature and stamp of a sworn translator and has the same legal validity as the source document. In addition, a certified translation includes a declaration by the sworn translator. With such declaration, sworn translators attest that the translation is a faithful and accurate translation of the source document. For security purposes, translators must securely attach the translation to the source document.
In the Netherlands, sworn translators must take an oath in one of the district courts. After taking the oath, their signature is registered with the court in which the oath was taken. Additionally, sworn translators must be registered with the Dutch registry of sworn interpreters and translators (RBTV).
